The Jeremy Clarkson-presented show has shattered the record which was previously held by Game of Thrones.
Data analytics company MUSO has claimed the first episode of the motoring show was downloaded 7.9million times. That figure shrank to 6.9million for the second episode and 4.6million for the third. The firm predict Amazon lost £3.2m in potential earnings from the first episode alone in the UK.
MUSO’s chief commerical officer Chris Elkins has the illegal download figures are “off the scale in terms of volume.”
