How The Grand Tour has become the most illegally downloaded show ever ‘costing Amazon Prime millions.

AMAZON Prime are losing millions of pounds on flagship show The Grand Tour after it became “the most illegally downloaded programme ever”, experts claim.

The Jeremy Clarkson-presented show has shattered the record which was previously held by Game of Thrones.

Data analytics company MUSO has claimed the first episode of the motoring show was downloaded 7.9million times. That figure shrank to 6.9million for the second episode and 4.6million for the third.The firm predict Amazon lost £3.2m in potential earnings from the first episode alone in the UK.

MUSO’s chief commerical officer Chris Elkins has the illegal download figures are “off the scale in terms of volume.”

James May: "I don't want to be doing it in five years time."

For over a decade, James May, Richard Hammond, and Jeremy Clarkson hosted Top Gear. Unsurprisingly, they’re all getting a little old.

In an interview with Radio Times, May admitted that their new Amazon Prime show, The Grand Tour, will likely not continue for longer than five years, because "we will be too old for it”. "We have to accept that fairly soon we will be too old for it," he told the publication. Richard Hammond [46] is a reasonably fit bloke who looks after himself, me [53] and Jeremy [56] aren't. Jeremy is particularly decrepit and I find growing within me – I try to fight it for some reason, but I'm giving into it – a much stronger, nesty sort of instinct. Within the next five years, I don't want to be fart-arsing around."

The trio has signed a three series contract with Amazon, meaning we can expect at least 36 episodes in total. May added he would be open to other people taking over the show one day: "I don't feel trapped because I'm just about in control of it. I'm not beholden to anyone, I'm not waiting for a pension or a carriage clock.

“But you have to know when to step back, and to be honest I thought it would have happened by now. Eventually, I want some other people to do it.”

Also in this episode, the hosts become unusually ecological as they attempt to create cars made out of truly sustainable materials before taking part in what's billed as a green Motorsport event.

The Grand Tour traveling tent pitches up on the quayside in the English coastal town of Whitby from where Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May introduce a modern take on the traditional gentleman's tour of Italy. With Jeremy in an Aston Martin DB11 and James in a Rolls-Royce Dawn, the pair are set for a leisurely trip of culture and fine dining until noisy and unwelcome guest arrives.
